Pupils from Voyager Year 5 class at Whitehill Junior School, Hertfordshire, unveiled a billboard illustrating their winning joke as they are presented with the BEANO ‘Britain’s Funniest Class’ trophy last month.
The class came up with the winning joke, “What do you call a class of children who eat potatoes using their toes? – The Mash Feet Kids!”.
The competition was fierce this year, with hilarious jokes coming in from across the nation and receiving over 190,000 votes by the public.
The annual initiative, created by BEANO in partnership with young people’s mental health charity YoungMinds, is now in its fourth year.
Alongside the BEANO’s participation in the Dundee Summer (Bash) Streets Festival, on now, which includes the installation of a massive BEANOTOWN sign in the city, their partnership with the Eden Project this summer, and this annual project, it’s no wonder BEANO remains in the public eye, and continues to be Britain’s top-selling weekly comic.

I’ve been reading the Beano for over 30 years. In my opinion it’s a product that has actually gotten better over the years. It’s a really great comic.
It’s a really well run company and what you write above further proves that.
A lot of people comment that it has gone Politically Correct. I wouldn’t agree but even if it has I wouldn’t care. Those old jokes are just lazy and kids today are a lot more sophisticated and deserve a lot better comedy. If the comic has changed that wise then it was for the better in more ways than one.
