Issue 8 – which comes in a nifty, great-looking magazine format – is stacked with talent, including cover art by The Project Twins and comics from Ryan Gillet, Ana Galvan, Warwick JC, Robert Ball, Lizz Lunney and Joe List.

There’s also a great sneak preview of Darryl Cunningham‘s new book Supercrash, and a terrific and upbeat interview with Marc Ellerby and Adam Cadwell from publisher Great Beast, enthusing about the current scene and their personal mission to publish comics that don’t take themselves too seriously.

OFF LIFE is the UK’s only street press comic magazine. Each issue the team publish comic stories from today’s best indie talent, compiling them in a bi-monthly magazine and then leaving them around bars, coffee houses, shops and galleries for good people like you to pick up – free of charge.

Their aim is to provide a platform for up-and-coming talent while opening comics to a whole new audience. “Sure Spider-Man is fun and Wolverine is tough, but at their best comics are as smart, adult and culturally relevant as any novel, film or classical art,” the team state on their web site. “We hope that OFF LIFE will be a stepping stone to all the works of genius that exist out there in four-colour print because bold voices in every art form deserve a place to shine. Yes, even comic slingers.”

Editor Daniel Humphry tells us OFF LIFE is going great guns and they are getting a stack of submissions for consideration for every issue.

A new service from OFF LIFE is an online Talent Matchmaking service, which is still in beta but worth checking out if you’re a comic creator. The idea is to enable artists and writers to hook up, enabling up-and-coming talent find like-minded people to work with.

• Choose between a list of artists and writers who are looking to collaborate on comics projects here. If you want to be listed, then drop the OFF LIFE team an email via info@offlife.co.uk.
