SelfMadeHero offers “How To Create a Graphic Novel” Master Class with The Guardian

Following on from two highly successful How To Create a Graphic Novel masterclasses, publisher SelfMadeHero teams up again with Guardian Masterclasses to offer a third opportunity to discover how to craft a graphic novel, which combines an introduction to the history of the art-form along with practical advice on scripting a project, finding the right collaborator and getting your work published.

The event takes place on Sunday 27th July, 10am – 4pm, at The Guardian, King’s Place, 90 York Way, London N1 9GU

Comics historian Paul Gravett, co-curator of the phenomenal Comics Unmasked: Art and Anarchy in the UK exhibition currently on at the British Library, provides an introductory overview.

The practical classes are led by three of the industry’s leading practitioners: Karrie Fransman, frequent contributor to The Guardian and New Statesman and creator of The House That Groaned (published by Square Peg); Steven Appleby, the Guardian cartoonist with a surreal view of life who collaborated with Black Francis and Josh Frank on the recently published The Good Inn (SelfMadeHero); and acclaimed novelist Toby Litt, author of Beatniks, King Death and the DC/Vertigo comic book series Dead Boy Detectives.
