The first image of the all-new Tracy Island for the upcoming ITV series Thunderbirds Are Go! was released at the Thunderbirds panel at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego yesterday.

Thunderbirds Are Go! is a reboot of the classic 1960s Thunderbirds TV series, which will get a world premiere at the first ever MIPJunior, the world’s showcase for kids’ programming in Cannes from 11-12 October 2014.

Speakers at the Q&A panel included Jamie Anderson (from Anderson Entertainment) executive producers of the new Thunderbirds Are Go series Richard Taylor (Jane and the Dragon, The Wot Wots, Lord of the Rings), and Giles Ridge (Harry Potter: Behind the Magic, The Illustrated Mum), moderated by head writer of the new series Rob Hoegee (Slugterra, Generator Rex, Teen Titans).

Various attendees posted images from the panel via Twitter, including MarketingLand’s Danny Sullivan.

The massive convention’s stands include Weta Workshops, who are creating the visuals for the show and ITV Studios have tweeted images of the huge Thunderbird 1 model on display.

And, despite not knowing what Thunderbird 1 is, the model caught the attention of Variety‘s Laura Prudom.

Giles Ridge was clearly pleased to be able to show the new Thunderbirds base off to fans.

“It’s great to have the chance to give fans a sneak peak at the home of Thunderbirds,” he said. “Tracy Island was a much loved feature of the original show, so it felt right that we showcase our new-look location with the show’s followers.”

This “sneek peek” follows earlier image releases from the new show.

Thunderbirds Are Go! is produced by ITV Studios and New Zealand-based Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with Weta Workshop. The new 26 x 30’ series will bow on ITV and CITV Channel in the UK in spring 2015 and, internationally, has been sold to Australia’s Nine Network.

The new incarnation of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s much-loved series will be produced using an innovative mix of CGI animation and live-action miniature sets. The original series was shot using so-called “Supermarionation,” a combination of puppets, scale models and special effects.
