The Destroyer, back in action!

Nestling in the nominations for this year’s International Association of Media Tie-In Writers Scribe Awards is Remo Williams, The Destroyer: The Adventures Continue, the latest book featuring all-action star of the long-running book series since the 1970s, and screen and comics, too.

Remo Williams, The Destroyer: The Adventures Continue (Bold Venture Press, 2025) - cover by Martin Baines)

The Destroyer is a series of paperback novels about a US government operative Remo Williams, originally by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir. The first novel was published in 1971, and over 150 novels have been published since, their popularity changing the landscape of adventure fiction – and influencing generations of storytellers.

The main characters were adapted to film in Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins in 1985, a television pilot, Remo Williams: The Prophecy, and several comic book and magazine series published by various companies, including Marvel.

Now, Remo Williams is back, unarmed and dangerous, with Harold W. Smith, grey-hearted director of CURE, and the inscrutable Chiun, Reigning Master of Sinanju, in twelve stories by the original authors and several newcomers.

Published under licence from Warren Murphy Media, Remo Williams, The Destroyer: The Adventures Continue, with a striking cover from Martin Baines, is an anthology published by US publisher Bold Venture Press.

It includes eleven new stories by various authors, several of who were ghost writers for Warren Murphy, or previously considered as ghost writers.

A twelfth story, “Terminal Philosophy” by Warren Murphy and Will Murray, also included, was originally published in All-Star Action Heroes #1 (Starlog Group, 1989), and previously unreprinted.

Authors for the new stories are Molly Cochran, Mark D. Ellis, comics writer Eric Esquivel, Green Hornet writer Robert Jeschonek, Shamus Award-nominated author James Mullaney, Doc Savage writer Will Murray, part of the Adventures in Bronze team, award-winning author and comics writer Bobby Nash, Bruce James Rae, Patrick Thomas, author of the humorous Murphy’s Lore urban fantasy series, Gerald Welch, and writer, film-maker and journalist Bryan Young.

Bold Venture Press is a heroic little publishing company, rolling out quality editions of new and classic pulp fiction. Their scope spans all genres — mystery, science fiction, horror, western, romance and humour.
