Be Ready: A1 and DEADLINE are back!

A1 and DEADLINE, two of Britain’s seminal comics magazines are soon set to return as one, straight from the heart of UK comics counterculture.

Created by 2000AD artists Brett Ewins and Steve DillonDeadline, published between 1988 and 1995, featured a mix of comic strips and written articles aimed at adult readers. It sat at the forefront of the wave of British comics anthologies for mature audiences of the time that included CrisisRevolver and Toxic!, and had a cultural influence beyond the comics world, most notably via its breakout star Tank Girl

Teased earlier this year, publisher Horrible Future has been dropping hints for months about its return and its lineup, working with A1 publisher Dave Elliott.

In the works is an 80-page comic magazine, that honours the past, while blazing a bold new path for the future of British comics.

The Kickstarter will launch on 21st October 2025

On offer will be new stories and classic bangers in an oversized 80-page special issue, plus exclusive collectibles, expect stories from the likes of Shaky Kane, Alan Martin, Jaime Hewlett, Steve Pugh, Rufus Dayglo, Glenn Fabry, Laura Martin, ILYA, Alison Sampson, Mark A. Nelson, KEK-W, Eryk Donovan, and many more, with special posthumous strips by founders Steve Dillon and Brett Ewins.
