Barrow, host to the upcoming Barrow Does Comics event in April, is being stalked by zombies, designed by Charlie Adlard!

Charlie has designed a coffee drinking zombie (who still needs a name), which was then turned into a giant window vinyl by the brilliant Graphix Signs. You can see it right now on Coffee D’Ash on Portland Walk, Barrow.

This zombie was created especially for Barrow Does Comics – a brand new event from the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, working in partnership with Barrow Business Improvement District, happening Saturday 18th April 2026 – welcoming artists from Barrow, across the UK and around the globe.

Expect workshops, signings and loads more, all taking place in Barrow town centre venues, aimed at young comic fans and creators, particularly 16 to 25 year olds.

“Charlie Adlard worked on 187 of the 193 issues of The Walking Dead, so having his artwork right in our town centre is a pretty big deal,” note the Barrow Does Comics team. “He’s also worked on Batman, The X-Files, X-Men, Superman and plenty more comic legends.

“Huge thanks to Charlie for bringing our undead caffeine lover to life!”

As we previously reported, Altamont a graphic novel written by Herik Hannah, with art by Charlie Adlard, is out now in English from Image Comics. It’s available from all good comic shops now, including Forbidden Planet (Affiliate Link), so go grab yourself a copy. It will be released in bookshops next month.
