UK WINTER COMICS FEST SHAPE UP
17/7/03: The Comic Festival Winter Special in London on 1st November 2003 is shaping up to be a major event in the UK comics calendar.
Among the confirmees, shown right (and on the festival website) in alphabetical order, organiser Kev Sutherland says the most exciting new faces are the VIZ boys (Simon Donald, Alex Collier and Davey Jones) who have agreed to deliver their excellent slide-talk “VIZ – Swearing Is Both Big And Clever” at the event. Paul Gambaccini has also agreed to conduct the star interview with (we hope) Carmine Infantino.
And, as well as exciting first time names including Ian (Halo Jones) Gibson and Steven (that strip in the Guardian and that Radio 4 series) Appleby, the biggest names in town remain Euan Kerr and Morris Heggie, editors of The Beano and The Dandy, as well as the first official high profile appearance from the editor and creators of Warhammer, an editorial presence from DC in New York, 2000AD of course, and all the other usual suspects.
