New record label, Other Shoe Records, has a famed comic creator connection

Author and famed comics creator Alan Moore has launched his own indie record label, Other Shoe Records.

Its focus is on celebrating local talent, in and around Alan’s hometown of Northampton, encouraging local artists, and being a force for positive change.

“Sometimes real change seems impossible,” notes Alan’s daughter, author Leah Moore, of the project, “but it just takes individual people choosing to support each other instead of five billionaires.”

The first release, available to order on vinyl now, is I’m Not Happy and That’s On You Three, by 72percent, comprising Joel Harries (Drums & Vocals), Josh Ryan (Guitar) and Joe Brown (Guitar). More releases will be announced soon.

The band’s next gig is on 20th March at The Garibaldi Hotel, Northampton, the night also featuring performances by Gumdrop and Mum and Dad Talk to Animals.

What if we tried to make things in the world? What if artists came first? What if being small was a virtue?

I’m Not Happy and That’s On You Three has been described as “ostensibly noise rock and math rock, but with a permanently unhinged profile that provides a tension and electricity at all times” over on NineHertz. “It never loosens that restlessness, bringing with it a state of suspense.”

“The release is, perhaps, not an obvious choice for a new label’s debut” say Other Shoe Records, “but one that meets the strange times we inhabit head on.”

And we are talking about someone whose musical creations include the memorable Sinister Ducks, after all…
