Hangover - Cover

If you’re at Thought Bubble this weekend, then look out for P M Buchan’s HANGOVER – a new anthology of horror and horror-comedy comic strips created by Buchan and a range of some of the world’s brightest emerging comic creators, including Martin Simmonds, artist of the upcoming IDW/Black Crown series Punks Not Dead, and Leonie O’Moore, recently featured in Heavy Metal Magazine, as well as acclaimed horror artists such as D W Frydendall, whose work has been featured in Dark Horse’s Creepy, Girls and Corpses Magazine and White Wolf’s The World of Darkness series.

Hangover - All-Roads

P M Buchan’s HANGOVER comes packed with 32 pages of Satanism, cannibalism and alcohol abuse, and includes Buchan and Martin Simmond’s out-of-print strips All Roads Lead To Hell and Embrace the Dark. Other featured artists include Phillip Marsden (Kerrang! Magazine), David Wynne (Markosia: Hypergirl), INDIO (British Comic Award-shortlisted Raygun Roads), Chris Doherty (Video Nasties), M D Penman (Eimurian Tales), James Lawrence (The Legend of La Mariposa), Anna Fitzpatrick (KORE) and Kate Holden (Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga finalist and Manga Jiman competition winner).

The HANGOVER cover, logo and book design are by Mike Stock.

Hangover - Christabel

P M Buchan, a former columnist for Starburst Magazine and SCREAM: The Horror Magazine, is best known for his work with Martin Simmonds and editor Kasra Ghanbari (44FLOOD: TOME Volume 1 – Vampirism) on the zero issue of folk-horror comic-book series HERETICS, which launched last year in an exhibition of folk-horror art created by artists including Ben Templesmith (IDW: 30 Days of Night), Caspar Wijngaard (Image: Angelic) and Sarah Gordon (British Comic Award-shortlisted STRIP). HERETICS issue zero was published by 44FLOOD, the collective behind anthologies such as TOME and which has also published music, comic-books and illustrated novels by award-winning artists and writers including Bill Sienkiewicz, George Pratt, Scott Radke, Jason Shawn Alexander, Phil Hale, Fink and Dave McKean.

“After years of writing short monthly comics for some of the UK’s biggest horror and genre magazines, and collaborating with an insanely talented roster of artists, many of whom are now finding the mainstream success that they so obviously deserve, now felt like the right time to collect the very best of our strips together, in HANGOVER,” he says.

“The collection includes kaiju wrestling matches, biblical floods, ultra-violent TV shows, the Prawn of the Dead, and even a fragment of a previously unpublished adaptation of Coleridge’s Christabel.

“Following the success of our savage horror-comedy anthologies BLACKOUT and BLACKOUT II: YOLO, the next stage was obviously to move on to the HANGOVER.”
