Etherington Brothers latest project is the most successful British comics crowdfunder, ever!

How to Think When You Draw by Lorenzo Etherington - Promo

Lorenzo Etherington just dropped us a line at downthetubes this morning, to share the exciting news that his latest crowdfunder – the chance to grab a copy of their new book, How to Think When You Draw  has achieved the plaudit of becoming the most successful British comics Kickstarter of all time.

Even if you can’t draw, if you’ve ever read any of the Etherington Brothers strips in The Phoenix (to name just one publisher) or followed their free online “How To” guides then you’ll know how talented Lorenzo is – so it’s no surprise the blue touch paper has been lit under this great-looking project.

How to Think When You Draw will get an official launch later this year, although the exact details of that are still a closely-guarded secret. The 200 page full colour hardback book collects together masses of Lorenzo’s  amazing, drawing tutorials, covering an enormous range of subjects. (There’s a selection of them here)

“The series is extremely user-friendly,” says Lorenzo, “designed to benefit every skill level, from the absolute beginner to the seasoned professional.

Also offered as an extension of your pledge is The Deluxe Collection Part 3 – a 600 page softcover black and white book dividing artwork into chapters themed around character design, pose and gesture sheets, monsters, robots, concept vehicles, environment design, world building and much more.

Plus, there’s the opportunity to grab a reprint of the blisteringly amazing The Art of Stranski – a 100 page full colour hardback book that is simply crammed with art gold. The original book raised £40,000 on Kickstarter last year and immediately sold out.

The Etherington Brothers are two of the most talented British comic creators working in the British comics mainstream right now, and I’m a huge fan of Lorenzo Etherington’s work, with its many tips of the hat to comic artists I grew up reading. Do check out this project – I think it’s a no brainer to back if you’re interested in learning about how to draw comics.
