If you’re a fan of Reg Parlett – an artist who drew strips for plenty of British humour weeklies such as Buster, Whoopee!, Whizzer and Chips and many more – you may fancy bidding on not one but two pages of “Billy Bunter” attributed to him, offered across two Catawiki auctions this week.
On offer is a complete “Billy Bunter” take from the pages of Valiant cover dated 20th December 1969, in which Billy gets his inevitable comeuppance when he tries out for a singing career.

Bizarrely, Page Two of the story is an item a Comic Artworks Auction ending later today; while bidding on the opening page ends in a separate auction, both run by the same curator, later this week.
The auction ending today also includes examples of “Axa” and “Modesty Blaise” newspaper strips drawn by Enrique Badia Romero.
We’re not quite sure of the logic to the out of order Bunter sale, but you may just want to check the pages out, as the opening price on both is pretty low and the seller ships to the UK – which some Catawiki sellers don’t, because of post Brexit shipping costs.
Billy Bunter’s adventures appeared as “Billie Turf” in Belgium, which is why the original art appears to have ended up there.
