Dublin Comic Con opens applications for Young Artist tables

Dublin Comic Con Young Artists Tables Announcement

Dublin Comic Con has launched its Young Artist Tables for its next event in April, a welcome initiative giving tangible support to under 18 artists: harnessing potential by giving them space “at the table” taking spots alongside top calibre professionals.

Last year, Dublin Comic Con arranged for a special section in the artists alley with Will Sliney, for youngsters and their parents to have free space. A process was set up, which I heard had hundreds of youngsters apply, and  twenty were chosen each day. I was astounded by the calibre of work.

Here’s the full details from the Dublin Comic Con team, via their Facebook Page

“Are you an artist under 18 looking to showcase your work, meet other young creatives, and experience Comic Con from the artist side?

“Not every child/teen wants to work a ‘traditional’ job. We want both the artists and parents/guardians in attendance to see what career options are out there by giving them the opportunity to sit on the other side of the table and speak to those already in the industry.

“Our Young Artist Initiative gives selected young artists the chance to:

• Display their artwork

• Network with artists their own age

• Gain real convention experience

 Important:

• Applicants must be under 18

• Parents/guardians must accompany the artist at all times
