Barrow Does Comics Comic Creation Workshops

In the run up to Barrow Does Comics, a series of Comic Creation Workshops are already taking place in the town, the first, which took place last week, seeing young comic creators set loose to create their own zines, ready to sell (if they wish) at the event this April.

These workshops will be running again, with a few free spaces still available on Thursday 12th February at The Derby Inn (book a free ticket here via Eventbrite); and on Thursday 19th Feb at Townhouse.211, Barrow in Furness (book a free ticket here via Eventbrite).

Barrow Does Comics is just part of LICAF’s dynamic, year-round programme of international comic art activity with the over-arching theme of “Comics Can Change the World”. LICAF is also an active supporter of the National Year of Reading 2026.

Away from Barrow, LICAF’s main festival itself will be returning to Kendal Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th October 2026, after being hosted in Bowness-on-Windermere since 2022. As we reported yesterday, invitations are still open to creators, publishers and collectives to apply and be part of the Comics Marketplace. The deadline for applications is 1st March 2026. Application + full Terms and Conditions are here
