This October, grab your companions and get ready to experience the Doctor’s adventures anew with Magic: The Gathering – Doctor Who from Wizards of the Coast, available to preorder now.
Celebrating 60 years of Doctor Who in four ready-to-play Commander decks, Magic: The Gathering – Doctor Who is a “Universes Beyond” expansion to the hugely-popular card game, allowing you to recreate your favourite Doctor Who moments on tabletop.
You can preorder decks, now through Amazon, AmazonUK (Affiliate Link) or your local games shop. They feature art by a range of artists that includes Cumbria-based illustrator Simon Dominic Brewer (aka Simon Dominic), American artist Syd Mills, Dutch artist David Auden Nash, well known for his striking Star Wars art, German artists Luisa J. Preissler, also creator of some terrific fantasy book covers, and Pauline Voss (Pauline Voß), and Czech artist Lenka Šimečková.
Just like the Doctor, you’ll get the opportunity to outwit your opponents and encounter familiar characters, villains, settings, and events from throughout the history of Doctor Who.
“Whether you’re a Magic fan, Whovian, or both, this set has plenty to love,” say Wizards of the Coast.
There’s still a lot of space and time to go before release, but WotC have teased the upcoming decks with some of the timeless artwork you’ll find on cards within the set.
There will be four decks, built around the Classic Doctors (Blast from the Past – Green-White-Blue), the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors (Timey-Wimey – Blue-Red-White), the Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors (Paradox – Green-Blue-Red), and and even a deck dedicated to the villains of Doctor Who (Masters of Evil – Blue-Black-Red).
Each deck will contain 50 new cards and a new set of Planechase cards featuring famous locations from the Doctor Who universe, so you can travel the universe with your favourite Doctor and companions.
Finally, for the first time ever, a Commander release will have Collector Boosters with special treatments for cards found in the decks. WotC will share more about these boosters as they get closer to release.
