Scarborough gains new Local Comic Shop, Comic World

It’s not every day you hear about a shop opening, not closing, in these troubled times, but we’re pleased to report the arrival of Comic World, a new Local Comic Shop in Scarborough, Yorkshire.

Committed to fostering a vibrant community of comic lovers, the team at Comic World aim to redefine the comic book experience by offering “an unparalleled selection of graphic novels, manga, and collectibles that cater to enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds.”

If you’re thinking of visiting, you might also want to check out Scarborough Collectibles in the town’s famous Market Vaults, sellers of old comics, coins, bank notes, stamps, records and more.

Often described as ‘an Aladdin’s Cave’, the Vaults is situated underneath the main floor of Scarborough’s Market Hall. Inside you’ll find a diverse range of shops with an emphasis on vintage and collectibles, arts and crafts, the quirky, and one of the most popular traditional cafes in town. It’s a must-visit if you’re looking for something unique or just wanting a fascinating potter around shops you will not find anywhere else!

John Freeman

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more.
