US publisher Antarctic Press has announced a three-book Shaman Kane mini series by British indie writer-artist David Broughton, collecting the bounty hunter’s early adventures in full colour for the first time.
Shaman Kane Book One of Three – available for preorder now – features the first three original stories published in David’s independently-published original Shaman Kane #1 back in 2014, but this time out the writer-artist has coloured them all for the new edition.

First published by Antarctic Press in Planet Comics #21 – 33, Shaman Kane has proved something of an indie hit stateside, and it’s great to learn the publisher is now representing the character’s early adventures, as originally planned, before the collapse of Diamond Distributors brought an end to the anthology title. (David drew a number of new covers for Planet Comics before its cancellation was announced).
Included in #1 of the mini-series, on sale from 4th March 2026, are “Poltergeist Problems”, “Sable’s Story”, and “The Ship Who Screamed”.
The British Shaman Kane series continues with Issue 14, on sale soon. Dave teased the cover of the upcoming issue earlier this week – promising all sorts of chaos ahead for his fearless interstellar adventurer!

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
