The winners of the 2025 International Association of Media Tie-In Writers Scribe Awards were announced at San Diego Comic Con: among them, Tim Foley, David Mack and Una McCormack.

Since its founding in 2006, the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers (IAMTW) has advocated for the authors who work across the broad spectrum of publications comprising the field of media tie-in writing, be it novels, short fiction, audio dramas, and graphic novels.
This year’s fine crop of winners and nominees for work published during 2024 includes a number of creators I’ve had the pleasure of working with in recent years, including Una McCormack, who has won the award for Best Original Novel, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – Asylum.
I am particularly thrilled for author David Mack, who is joint winner in the Short Story category, for his story about Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Wesley Crusher, “Family History”, which ran in the final issue of Titan’s Star Trek Explorer magazine, which I edited, illustrated by Pete Wallbank. (Titan has yet to announce a collection that will include this adventure).

Each year, the IAMTW sponsors the Scribe Awards as a way to recognise noteworthy accomplishments by those who craft new tales within the “expanded universe” of movie, television, gaming, and even literary franchises. This year’s awards include seven categories to highlight excellence in this often misunderstood or simply overlooked corner of storytelling.
The licenses run the gamut from James Bond to Jessica Fletcher, from Star Wars to Star Trek, to everything in the Marvel and DC universes, and much more.
Here’s the full list of winners and nominees, several British creators on the list. Congratulations to both winners and nominees, and especially 2024 Grandmaster, Faust Award Recipient James Reasoner.
IAMTW President Jonathan Maberry announced the winners and presented the awards on Friday, 25th July 2025 at San Diego Comic-Con.
