The London Cartoon Show opens today, Monday 19th August at Charing Cross Library, running until Sunday 1st September 2019.

Presenting an exhibition by the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation of cartoons on the theme of the capital, past and present, drawn by the UK’s top cartoonists.

Be it kings and queens, public executions, urban foxes, hideous modern architecture, even more hideous politicians, gin lane, homelessness, tourists, Sweeny Todd, Jack the Ripper, knife crime, EastEnders, Dick Whittington, Sherlock Holmes or any of the other sights, sounds, and smells related to England’s teeming capital you’ll find them here.

The show features work by over 30 of the UK’s finest, funniest and most insightful cartoonists including Dave Brown of the Independent, Kipper Williams, creator of the Evening Standard’s “London Calling” cartoon strip, Martin Rowson of the Guardian and many regular contributors to Private Eye and the rest of the British press.

Kipper Williams: London Calling - Thursday 22 August 2019, 6 - 8.00pmSPECIAL EVENTS

Kipper Williams: London Calling – Thursday 22 August 2019, 6 – 8.00pm

Kipper Williams draws cartoons for a variety of publications, including The Spectator, The Oldie, Private Eye and Broadcast. He will be spilling the beans (and the ink) with an illustrated talk, discussing his popular ‘London Calling’ strip cartoon as featured in the London Evening Standard. There will also be a bit of live drawing.

Cartoon Drawing Workshop - Saturday 31st August, 11.00am to 12.30pmCartoon Drawing Workshop – Saturday 31st August 2019, 11.00am to 12.30pm

Cartoonist Robert Duncan, who’s a member of the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation will lead a cartooning workshop on the theme of travel. Come and learn how to create simple single panel gags.

Suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years old, adults are welcome to attend too. Free event, to book a place contact Charing Cross Library via charingcrosslibrary@westminster.gov.uk

Paper Conservation Roadshow – Thursday 19th September 2019, 4.00 – 7.00pm

Meet the Conservator and volunteers from our Archives to learn more about conservation.

They’ll be sharing their tips which can help you conserve your own collections. This is great opportunity to get a glimpse of our theatre programmes and tools.

No need to book a place, just turn up.
