Lucy Sullivan, author of the upcoming graphic novel Barking, is a guest of the latest Lakes International Comic Art Festival Podcast. Animator, illustrator and writer, Lucy talks to co-hosts Ian Loxam and Nikki Bates about the graphic novel, which, as we’ve previously reported, will launch at this year’s Festival.
Lucy talks about the creative process around the book and the reasons for creating it, expanding on themes in her recent interview here.
Ian and Nikki also take a look at some of their recent reading, which includes Kate Charlesworth’s Sensible Footwear (reviewed on downthetubes here by Joe Gordon) and Jess Lemire and Dean Ormiston’s Black Hammer – Age of Doom.
Mike Williams catches up on superhero TV and reviews The Wayward from Images Comics, by Steven Cummings and Jim Zub, and Pete Taylor‘s back, to give an update on his The Seven Ages of Silverbeard Kickstarter… with a cold. (Meanwhile, Silverbeard himself is back too, taking over the show!)
There’s also another look at a few events coming up at this year’s Festival. (Check out the official web site for the full line up for this year’s event).
