Brighton-based comedian and cartoonist Fraser Geesin has just released a new anthology, Journey to the Surface of the Earth.

This new anthology, released at Thought Bubble, includes both new and previously published material.

A creator described by Andy Oliver at Broken Frontier as a “seriously under appreciated mainstay of the UK self-publishing scene“, Fraser happily informs visitors to his web site that he “loves nothing more than ransacking his dignity for your entertainment” when it comes to his comedy shows.

To give you an idea of what to expect should you be unfamiliar with his work, among the new strips is “Ashes“, which centres on a woman who buys a funeral urn full of human ashes at a flea market in the mistaken belief that it is a vase, a story that moves from blackly comedic farce to a more existential saga about fate and free will.

Andy Oliver recently said of Journey to the Surface of the Earth: “It’s a fittingly witty celebration of the mundane given Geesin’s propensity for finding bleak mirth in the everyday minutiae of life (albeit with an often grotesquely weird spin)… a neat entry point for those new to his work…”

Fraser’s other comics include The Cleaner, coincidentally about Fraser’s time as a domestic cleaner; and Andrew and Steven, The Amusing Brothers, both available from his web shop.

• You can buy Journey to the Surface of the Earth as a physical copy here or if you want to save money or hate tree-killing paper and love carbon-producing data storage and viewing a PDF is available here from Fraser’s official new web shop
