Coming Soon: Rejected, a one shot comics anthology

Rejected Anthology CoverComing soon is Rejected, a British independent anthology with a terrific cover by Stephen Sampson, edited by Baden James Mellonie, with pre-orders being taken now.

So what is it?

“It’s a compilation or worst of. Or it’s a book of stuff that hasn’t worked out yet,” says Baden. “Frame it how you will.”

Rejected features Baden’s “Tharg’s Future Shocks” submissions, submissions for STRIP Magazine, (that unfortunately folded), as well as other strips that for one reason or another have ended up in development hell, or Baden gave up on, before his recent success with Edge of Extinction.

As well as Stephen Sampson’s terrific cover, Rejected features art by Steven Austin, Patrick Goddard, David Hitchcock, David Millgate and Karl Richardson, letters by Bolt-1 and articles by John Freeman and Baden.

“It features scripts, abandoned projects, character designs, letters of rejection and tales of what might have been,” says Baden.

Art for “Mayne” by David Hitchcock. "Initially designed as a pitch submission for John Freeman at STRIP Magazine, Strip folded before we could get our six pages completed," says Baden. "It's been waiting in a dark room ever since and Issue One will be published in 2020 by Eighth Continent Publishing."

The full Rejected package costs £15 (which includes delivery costs) for a limited edition release which includes the (at least) 64 page US format book, signed by Baden and, possibly, others. (The final page count might be up to 80 pages). Plus: a thank-you in the list of contributors; a print of the cover; a book mark; a badge set; an invite to the launch signing; and Baden’s gratitude!

Baden is eschewing crowdfunding for the book in favour of a direct appeal for pre-orders.
