Children of Merseyside have had their work published in the brand new Liverpool Heartbeat Comic Magazine, edited by Tim Quinn, featuring a never-before-seen Stan Lee item.
Stan Lee features in the first issue, on sale now from the Liverpool Heartbeat charity web site, alongside the work of talented young people from schools across Merseyside.
Also included are new strips created by Beano artists Lew Stringer and Nigel Parkinson, and Doctor Who artist Russ Leach, Liverpool illustrator Holly Bushnell – and an interview with comedian Eddie Izzard.
From a script by Tim Quinn, Lew’s drawn a full page strip called “Bird’s Eye View”, featuring Askey and Dodd, the famous Liver Birds that look out over Liverpool from the top of the Liver building. Who knew that while they’re up there, Dodd is regailing Askey with some tall tales? The first of which takes us back to the height of Beatlemania, Daleks, and screaming teenagers! (Lew reveals more here on his blog).
The team are already looking for contributors for the second issue, so be sure to hop on board our new Liverpool Heartbeat Comic Magazine Facebook Page, where they will also be uploading fun features for parents and children at home during the international Coronavirus Pandemic crisis.
