Cutaway Comics announces artist for next Doctor Who spin-off comic, Paradise Found

Cutaway Comics, Manchester’s comic imprint exploring creator owned properties from Doctor Who, has announced Silvano Beltramo as the winner of their call out for a series artist on the imprint’s upcoming third title, Paradise Towers: Paradise Found.

Receiving 17 entries of an extremely high-standard, publisher Gareth Kavanagh says: “A judging panel of myself, writer Sean Mason and series creator Stephen Wyatt had the extraordinarily tricky task of deciding on our series artist. Fierce battle lines were drawn over each and every submission!”

Gareth continues: “The winning submission stood out with its freshness, boldness and confidence in handling the source material.”

That winning submission was from Italian artist Silvano Beltramo, who began his comics career in 1999, illustrating several episodes of “Clarissa” for the magazine Dodo.

Since then, he has worked for leading publishers including Antarctic Press, Advent Comics, Minutehand Pictures and TPub Comics amongst others. Silvano is also part of the teaching staff of the International School of Comics in Turin.

“I am very proud to join the Paradise Towers creative team,” Silvano comments.”I can’t wait to work on the pages of the miniseries to bring these stories to life.”

Creator of Paradise Towers, Stephen Wyatt says: “Ice hot! Silvano is a great choice!”

The series will be formally launched in April 2021 with a Kickstarter featuring exclusive perks. Expanding on events seen in the Doctor Who story Paradise Towers, Paradise Found returns to the nightmarish high-rise block where killer cleaning robots, impractically precise caretakers and the Kangs, feral gangs of teenagers, inhabit.

Cutaway Comics most recent title Omega, described as “Nothing less than a triumph” (by The Tides of Time), is available to purchase now from the Cutaway Comics webstore along with launch title Lytton.
