Comic-Con@Home 2021 virtual line-up includes Blade Runner and Doctor Who panels from Titan Comics

Comic-Con International‘s virtual event Comic-Con@Home 2021 kicks off this today (Friday 23rd July 2021) and runs through to Sunday 25th, replacing the annual physical and much-missed physical San Diego. Comic-Con get together for the second year in a row. As you can imagine, there are plenty of online events planned, including new comic and product launch announcements from US publishers such as Dark Horse, DC, IDW, Marvel and more. Look out, too, for a lot of new film and TV series trailers dropping onto YouTube this weekend – not least of them a stunning teaser for the new Dune feature film, hitting screens in October.

British publisher Titan Comics will also be in virtual attendance, with a number of panels promoting their diverse line of titles, including one focusing on Titan’s plans for its Doctor Who comics range, another on its Blade Runner comics. Look out, too, for an exclusive limited edition Exclusive Convention Edition book launch for V.E. Schwab’s new graphic novel, ExtraOrdinary: A Villains Story.

Max Allan Collins – Three Hard Cases: Ms. Tree, Mike Hammer & Nolan will see Forbidden Planet TV’s Andrew Sumner sit down with SDCC Inkpot Award-winning comics writer/novelist/movie director Max Allan Collins (Quarry’s War, Road To Perdition) to discuss his various ongoing crime comics and crime novels for Titan: Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, career criminal Nolan and unstoppable female private eye Ms. Tree, all of whom are returning with all-new uncensored adventures in 2021. Titan Comics’ Doctor Who books are back and better than ever in 2021, the company claims, with brand-new stories and characters from across the Whoniverse! The Doctor Who Comics chat sees Andrew Sumner go behind the scenes of the critically-acclaimed series with Eisner Award-nominated writer Jody Houser, artist Roberta Ingranata, colourist Enrica Eren Angiolini, and editor Jake Devine, as they discuss the success of their Doctor Who: Missy series. The video stream will premiere on 23rd July 2021 at 1.00 pm (GMT-07:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada)

(Separately, there’s a Doctor Who TV panel, too, on Sunday. Showrunner Chris Chibnall, the Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill, new Doctor Who cast member John Bishop and a very special surprise guest will be sharing exclusive content from the show).

Blade Runner 2099 - Reunion

Return to the spectacular world of Blade Runner for a special Blade Runner Comics panel on Saturday, focusing on Titan Comics’ critically-acclaimed, best-selling comics adaptations of Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece. Both of Titan’s ongoing series – Blade Runner Origins (which recounts the birth of the Blade Runner division) and Blade Runner 2029 (following the career of Detective Ash) are going from dystopian strength-to-strength.

Forbidden Planet TV’s Andrew Sumner rounds up writers Mellow Brown, K. Perkins and Mike Johnson, artists Andres Guinaldo and Fernando Dagnino, editor David Leach and Alcon Publishing’s Jeff Connor to discuss Blade Runner’s cultural influence and continuing success. Black Panther - Tales Of Wakanda

C-SPAN host and Titan editor Jesse Holland is hosting a the panel Black Panther – Tales Of Wakanda, with an all-star lineup of authors involved with Titan Books’ groundbreaking fiction eponymous anthology.

This book is a spectacular study of one of Marvel’s most-beloved characters, seen through the eyes of Jesse’s hand-picked line-up of writers, all of whom share African heritage. Tune in as Jesse talks to authors Tananarive Due, Sheree Renee Thomas and Cadwell Turnbull about their contributions to this fantastic anthology. Stardust by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess

Titan’s The Art Of Stardust With Charles Vess and Neil Gaiman event sees Andrew Sumner chats with legendary fantasy artist Charles Vess (illustrator, Stardust) to discuss his personal archive from the creation of Stardust and introduce his wonderfully personal Art of Stardust book, with a special introduction from Neil Gaiman (author Stardust) himself. ExtraOrdinary: A Villains Story - Comic-Con@Home Limited Edition Cover

Finally, find out more about V.E. Schwab’s Extraordinary Comics, as Andrew Sumner goes behind the scenes with V.E. herself, series artist Enid Balam, and editor David Leach to discuss this epic new series.

2021 has already been an ExtraOrdinary year for best-selling author V. E. Schwab and the excitement continues with Titan Comics. Her most recent novel, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, reached No.1 in the Publishers Weekly fiction chart and her new ExtraOrdinary series from Titan Comics debuted in June 2021 – taking her fans deeper into the world of Schwab’s critically acclaimed Villains novels. Tying in with this panel, check out the launch of an exclusive Comic-Con@Home Exclusive Convention Edition book launch for V.E. Schwab’s new graphic novel, ExtraOrdinary: A Villains Story, a title not on general sale until October – with only 500 copies of this special edition available. This limited edition features a special variant cover with gold metallic ink and a signed tip-in sheet by the author.

A must for all Schwab fans everywhere, ExtraOrdinary is a dazzlingly illustrated graphic novel set in the five years between V.E. Schwab’s stories Vicious and Vengeful. This adventure follows the tale of a teenage girl named Charlotte Tills who following a fatal bus crash, and seemingly dies, only to wake up to discover she has become an EO – a person with ExtraOrdinary abilities.

In Charlotte’s case, it’s the ability to see people’s deaths, but when she looks into her own future, she only sees her own murder at the hands of the self-proclaimed hero and notorious EO killer Eli Ever, who is currently in prison for the murder of Victor Vale. Refusing to accept her fate, Charlotte sets off to find – and change – her future… before it comes for her.

This collection also features, for the first time ever in print, Schwab’s original 2013 text short story Warm Up, which is set in the Vicious universe. It’s available here from Forbidden Planet.
