In Review: Rivers of London – Monday Monday #3

Things have been complicated for a while for part-time wizard, full-time cop Peter Grant, but in the latest Rivers of London comic series, Monday, Monday, it’s not going to get easier anytime soon, if ever, judging by events in the third issue.

As Peter heads back to work, paternity leave apparently over, but paternity very definitely not, despite baby-sitting from talking foxes, he discovers a werewolf is on the loose and will stop at nothing to avoid capture.

It’s up to Peter and his cohort of chums to hunt the deadly lycanthrope and bring him to justice.

If you’re a fan of the Rivers of London books and comics, then you’ll feel right at home with this story, threading a police investigation in with family developments, with well-honed ease. If you’re not familiar with Rivers of London, you may well find yourself thrown in the deep end with events portrayed in this latest series, and you seriously should go out and buy the novels and some of the comic albums first!

I really enjoyed José María Beroy’s art on this book, with lots of smashing background art of London used as dressing. And who’s not going to grab a book with a Rian Hughes cover, hmm?
