The initial allocation of The Collected Cloak by Mike Higgs, published in Australia by Comicoz as part of Rebellion’s Treasury of British Comics sent to Diamond UK has completely sold out – but more copies will be dispatched as soon as they are available.
Unfortunately, this has resulted in some disappointment from some fans who had ordered copies from their Local Comic Shop, those orders currently unfulfilled, and reports of price hiking of copies by some retailers.
In response, Comicoz publisher Nat Karmichael has issued the following statement, reprinted here in full…
It’s pleasing to report that the initial allocation of “The Collected Cloak” books by Mike Higgs (with an introduction by Alan Moore) to Diamond UK has completely sold out.
However, it’s been disappointing to hear (presently unsubstantiated and unverified) reports that a few retailers have bumped up the retail price of their copies to make a quick profit. This message is for all overseas customers seeking to purchase a copy…Don’t pay outrageous prices for this book: more stock will be sent to Diamond UK as soon as possible.
My own personal shipment from the printer has not yet arrived in Australia. The expected date of arrival in the Brisbane port is sometime in the last week in October. Delivery to my home (aka Comicoz HQ) is anticipated to be in the first week in November.
Once they arrive, my priority will be to fulfill all pre-orders from my website (comicoz.com). I’ll then move another shipment to my distributor, Diamond UK, to meet this need.
And to everyone who played a part in producing the book, to everyone who’s helped promote the book (and that means you blokes!), to everyone who’s actually been able to read and review their copy, to everyone who’s ordered a copy: it’s really exceeded all my expectations.
And, to everyone in the UK/Ireland/Northern Europe who still wants a copy: put your order in with your Local Comic Shop.
To potential Australian readers: copies have been ordered by Readings Carlton, by Impact Comics in Canberra (hopefully with more outlets to come!), and of course you can pre-order still via my website… but don’t delay: over half the print run is already allocated!
