Comic art from the 10 Years To Save The World project co-ordinated by Manchester-based media agency Creative Concern in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Council, and Komiket in the Philippines, supported by the British Council, forms part of the current “A Thing of Beauty” outdoor exhibition in the City of London.
Included are images reflecting Climate Change concerns by Manix Abrera, Jack Teagle, Tarantadong Kalbo, and Clarice Tudor.
Running until 7th December 2021, three locations across the City of London have been utilised to give visitors the chance to explore a collection of international collaborative projects, all British Council Creative Commissions, all working to address climate change in unique and creative ways through art, science and digital technology.
Organised by the British Council in partnership with the City of London Corporation. The exhibition is part of the City’s outdoor arts programme, A Thing of Beauty – a season of events that explores beauty, love and truth, addressing themes of diversity, the environment and sustainability.
The exhibition showcases the work of nine Creative Commissions, including 10 Years to Save the World – global actions developed to provide creative responses and solutions to the climate challenge. The aspiration for these commissions is to stimulate global conversations about the climate crisis and to inspire transformational change.
These collaborations are part of the British Council’s The Climate Connection programme, which is supporting a total of 17 Creative Commissions, which brought together partners in the UK and other countries to deliver collaborative projects in the run-up to the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) earlier this month, in Glasgow.
After being on display in Paternoster Square, next to St Paul’s Cathedral, earlier in the month, the free open air exhibition is currently in Aldgate Square until 29th November, then moved to Guildhall Yard, off Gresham Street, from 30th until 7th December.
Reflecting the ethos that Comics can change the world, ten leading comic artists, from the UK and the Philippines, have created digital comics in response to the #ClimateCrisis. Read. Share. Take Action. Check out all the free comics here: www.10yearstosavetheworld.com
