The Captain Action comic, based on the classic action figure, has been out of print for more than 50 years. Written by Jim Shooter and Gil Kane, drawn by Kane and Wally Wood – a legendary roster of talent if there ever was one – and containing the origin of Captain Action and Action Boy and featuring their arch-nemesis, the diabolical Doctor Evil!
All five original issues are collected in this volume from IDW Publishing have been meticulously scanned from crisp first generation stats, and painstakingly re-coloured (using the original comics as guides), beautifully representing a long-lost treasure.
The new collection looks absolutely fantastic and certainly has Captain Action fans abuzz about it, who include comics writer Mark Waid, and many others!
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
