Here’s a list of comics – both US and UK releases – on sale in specialist UK comic shops from tomorrow, Wednesday 6th August 2014, courtesy of First Age Comics, Lancaster. We’ve picked out the titles published by British publishers in bold below, or titles with a British connection we’re aware of.
Releases include 2000AD Issue 1893 (also on sale in newsagents), in which “Brass Sun”, “Aquila” and “Black Shuck” continue their terrific runs behind a cover by INJ Culbard, with added levels of excitement in the return of élite Nordland trooper, “Jaegir”, and the gripping finale to Judge Dredd black comedy, “A Night In Sylvia Plath” from John Wagner and Colin MacNeil. Creators this issue include Simon Coleby, INJ Culbard, Ian Edginton, Leigh Gallagher, Leah Moore, Gordon Rennie, John Reppion and Steve Yeowell
“Jaegir”, from Rennie and Coleby is set in the Greater Nordland Republic. While the Norts are currently engaged in a galaxy-wide war with the Souther forces, it falls to military officers such as Kapiten-Inspector Atalia Jaegir of the Nordland State Security Police to root out and investigate war criminals amongst her own ranks, a task that never makes her popular with her comrades and often leads to dangerous territory…
Also out this week is Miracleman #9 from Marvel, continuing the reprints of the classic British superhero re-imagined initially in Warrior but was then published by Eclipse.
The release list below features mainly US titles from Marvel Comics, DC Comics, IDW, Image Comics and other publishers, including Trade Paperbacks. We’re not including merchandise releases in these news items.
