Ten Speed Graphic, an imprint of publisher Ten Speed Press, has announced a four-volume adaptation of Revolution Trilogy, the bestselling three-volume history of the Revolutionary War by historian Rick Atkinson, adapted by Norah Neus, with art by Italian graphic novelist Federico Pietrobon.

The first volume in the Revolution Trilogy novels, The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777, spent nearly three months on the New York Times bestseller list in 2019. The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780, published earlier this year, debuted as the #1 New York Times nonfiction bestseller,
The graphic novel series will launch with The British Are Coming: The Graphic Edition, Volume 1 in both hardcover and softcover in June 2026, followed by Volume 2 in Autumn 2027. The first two volumes adapt Atkinson’s first book, which sold over 250,000 copies across formats. Four more book are planned in the graphic novel series.
Volume One adapts the first half of the novel, covering the battles at Lexington and Concord in Sprin 1775 through the siege of Boston in 1776.

From the battles at Lexington and Concord in the spring of 1775 through the Siege of Boston in 1776, American militiamen and the newly created Continental Army take on the world’s most formidable adversary: the British Empire. The gripping saga is alive with astonishing characters: Henry Knox, the former bookseller with an uncanny understanding of artillery; Nathanael Greene, the blue-eyed bumpkin who becomes a brilliant battle captain; Benjamin Franklin, the self-made man who proves to be the wiliest of diplomats; and George Washington, the commander-in-chief who learns the difficult art of leadership when the war seems all but lost.
The story is also told from the British perspective, making the mortal conflict between redcoats and rebels all the more compelling.
“Full of riveting details and iconic stories, The British Are Coming, Volume 1 is a tale of heroes and knaves, of sacrifice and blunder, of redemption and profound suffering,” say Ten Speed Graphic. “Expertly rendered in gripping graphic novel-style artwork, the battle for independence is brought to life like never before. Discover the first act of America’s creation in this vividly illustrated graphic history.”
“Mr. Atkinson has redefined what popular history can be,” Ten Speed Press Publisher Aaron Wehner said in a statement.
“His work captures the sweep of world events with the intimacy of lived experience, uniting impeccable research with deeply human storytelling.”
