BAFTA-nominated, six-time RTS-winning documentary-maker Chris Chapman, has written his first Seventh Doctor story for July’s new audio drama box set, Fixers – “The Executor”, which stars Sylvester McCoy, Sara Griffiths and guest stars Celia Imrie. The release features cover art by Rafe Wallbank.
The Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) recently gained a new travelling companion, Ray (played by Sara Griffiths), the mechanic he first met during a dangerous encounter at a Welsh holiday camp (in 1987 Doctor Who TV story Delta and the Bannermen.
Longtime Who fans will know Ray was considered as a potential companion for the Seventh Doctor on TV.
Listeners of the audio box set Past Forward, released by Big Finish last year, know how Ray reunited with the Doctor and joined the TARDIS. Now, it’s time for Ray to find out what awaits her across time and space.
In this next Seventh Doctor Adventures box set, out in July, Ray will help the Doctor deal with the possessions of a late friend, before the time travelling duo encounter mutated seals on the Norfolk coast and visit a high-stakes intergalactic race.
The first episode, “The Executor”, written by Chris Chapman, guest stars the much-loved Celia Imrie (recently seen in Celebrity Traitors and known to Doctor Who fans for TV episode The Bells of Saint John), as the recently deceased Time Lord Peg.
“A big moment for me,” says Chris, “as Sylvester was my Doctor as a kid and made me a Who fan.
“‘The Executor’ is basically “’what if you were responsible for clearing the home of a dead friend but… the home is a TARDIS!’ I think this set will be a great jumping on point for anyone who loved Ray back in Delta and the Bannermen.”
The box set’s cast also includes Sion Tudor Owen (Highlander), Annie Wallace (Hollyoaks) and Poppy Miller (House of Anubis), as well as Anne Odeke, Marc Silk and Rhîan Crowley-McLean.
“I’m so excited we’ve now got a set of stories with just Ray and the Seventh Doctor,” says Producer Emma Haigh. “Ray arrived back in the world of the Seventh as we said goodbye to Harry and Naomi and now we can find out a bit more about her life since we last met her.
“It’s been a pleasure to bring Sara Griffiths into the Big Finish family, and these three stories have been a lot of fun to work on.”
