This week’s Commando comics set from DC Thomson includes a high noon face-off between Commandos, the SAS and a group of Nazi Cowboys, featuring an absolutely astonishing cover by Marco Bianchini, who provides both new covers in this release.
Meanwhile, over in Normandy, Hauptmann Lange is interrogating the captured, and surprisingly nonchalant, Private David Taylor… what’s the secret to his calm demeanour?
Find out in Commando issues 5963-5966, on sale from today, Thursday 4th June, in all surviving TG Jones not closed by private equity pirates, available on subscription (so you’re already reading yours, anyway), and digitally via Amazon and Magzter.
Commando 5963 (Home of Heroes): Commandos Vs Cowboys
Story: Rossa McPhillips | Concept: Michael Nakan | Internal Art: Marc Viure | Cover Art: Marco Bianchini

High noon in the town of San Cavino. Two gunslingers. One victor.
Nazi Cowboys have formed the despicable SS George Washington Legion, terrorising Allies and civilians in Northern Italy. That’s where SAS Major Hugh Hulke comes in. He knows the area and can assist Captain Andrew Ashe and his elite Commando unit in taking down the turncoats. But is Hulke out for justice — or revenge?

Writing recently about creating comics, Marc Viure said looking at the finished pages of this story made him realise how wonderful it is to see his hard work pay off.
“I know I’m just starting out in my career, but my goal is crystal clear,” he said. “I want to tell stories that move you and make you feel alive. Incredible projects are coming, projects I’ve poured my heart and soul into.”
Commando 5964 (Gold): Hero on Horseback
Story: Spence | Internal Art: AC Kennedy | Cover Art: Penalva
First published 1972 as No.613

How do you attack a Nazi Panzer supply base guarded by huge Tiger tanks? Do you use bombs? Or rockets? Perhaps artillery?
Not if you’re Captain Brad Blake you don’t. You charge with your own roughneck, bareback cavalry!
Commando 5965 (For Action and Adventure): What Are You Doing Here?
Story: Andrew Knighton | Internal Art: Vicente Alcazar | Cover Art: Marco Bianchini

Although currently tied to a chair in a medieval church, Private David Taylor could climb like a monkey and talk the hind legs off a donkey. But, fuelled by coffee, cruelty and a desire to push back against the Normandy Invasion, Hauptmann Lange only wanted to know one thing from Taylor… What Are You Doing Here?
Commando 5966 (Silver): The Last Raiders
Story: Bill Fear | Internal Art: Blasco | Cover Art: Jeff Bevan
First published 1985 as No. 1882

On foot, in a foreign land, with every police force and army unit on the alert for them, a small bunch of Italian sailors tried desperately to get over the border to the safety of Mexico.
What were they doing in the United States in the first place? Well, it started when they raided a big American harbour, thousands of miles from their home, in a midget submarine!

Commando Presents: Sergeant Rayker
ISBN: 978-1917436618 | Buy it from AmazonUK (Affiliate Link)

Sergeant Moses Rayker – one of DC Thomson’s most unforgettable creations – returns in this explosive graphic novel collection. First introduced in Warlord in 1979, Rayker became a breakout favourite thanks to his fierce moral code and refusal to tolerate prejudice from either Axis or Allied forces. His adventures ran through weekly issues, annuals and specials until 1984… and then the legend roared back in 2025 in Commando, courtesy of writer Dominic Teague and artist Mike Dorey, whose incredible line work helped make Rayker so memorable originally.
Now, for the first time, Rayker’s first two rebooted Commando stories are blown up to full graphic novel size, presented with dynamic artwork that showcases every punch, clash and narrow escape.
