A copy of the much sought after “Eric Clapton Beano” is currently being offered on eBay – and, as usual, is attracting some fierce bidding, far in excess of its original price of just 3d back in 1966, when it was first published!

The Beano – No. 1242, cover dated 7th May 1966, featured on the cover of an album by the legendary Eric Clapton – is up for sale from eBay seller Comics Keys, who are also currently selling some amazing original art from vintage British comics such as Film Fun, Jester and Valiant.
Bidding is in three figures for the collectable and sought-after issue being held by Eric Clapton on the cover of the Blues Breakers album.

As we’ve previously noted, Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton, released in July 1966 is a blues/blues rock album recorded by John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton as part of the band, the second album credited to John Mayall after the live John Mayall Plays John Mayall.
Musician and archivist “The Happy Bluesman” has described it as “an album that changed the history of music.
“It helped to set the British Blues boom in motion, which in turn led to the birth of rock music,” he notes. “Indirectly, this led to a major shift in youth culture and created the hippy movement of free love, peace and psychedelia.”
