After the sad demise of genre magazines such as Star Trek Explorer and Star Wars Insider, good news – STARLOG Magazine is returning as a print magazine this Autumn.
In 1976, STARLOG set out to map the boundaries of our imagination, taking fans behind the scenes of the space-times and alternate worlds that defined a generation. Three hundred and seventy-four print issues later, it went dormant for 17 years.
The revived publication from Wanderwell Entertainment and editor and author Annalee Newitz will be a combination of brand-new articles and archived material.
In an announcement on the official STARLOG website, inviting potential readers to subscribe to the official newsletter, the publishers declare: “Fifty years ago, STARLOG went behind the scenes of alternate worlds for the first time.
“Now it’s back, exploring the visionary sci-fi and cutting-edge science that inspire what comes next. The future will be wild. You’ll be ready for it because you read STARLOG.”
A new STARLOG podcast is already up and running, the first episode offering insights into the new magazine from Editor-in-Chief Annalee Newitz.

Meet the Team
Annalee Newitz is a science journalist who also writes science fiction. They are the author of several bestselling books, including Automatic Noodle, The Terraformers, and Four Lost Cities: A Secret History of the Urban Age. Previously, they were the founding editor of io9, a contributing writer at the New York Times, and a professor of media studies.
The team also includes Jordan Hoffman, Podcast Host and Editor of The Lodestar, a critic and journalist published in Vanity Fair, Foreign Policy, Polygon, Entertainment Weekly, and elsewhere; film and pop culture podcaster Dave Gonzales, co-author of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, a New York Times bestseller; Meredith Borders, formerly the Editorial Director of Birth.Movies.Death., who has been the Senior Editor of FANGORIA magazine since the brand’s relaunch in 2018, and now leads Fango’s Single Issue Publications division; and Jason Kauzlarich, the Creative Director at FANGORIA laying out the magazine cover to cover including Fango’s Single Issue Publications and convention issues.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine and Overkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
