Out next Thursday from the makers of Doctor Who Magazine is Doctor Who – Legends: Patrick Troughton, a special tribute to the actor who took the show into a new era, and made an indelible mark on the saga.

The follow-up to Legends: Terry Nation, this Special Edition celebrates 60 years of Patrick Troughton becoming the Doctor, and includes reminiscences from his son, Michael, as well as co-stars Anneke Wills, Frazer Hines, Wendy Padbury, Katy Manning and Nicola Bryant.
Other features include a rare 1984 interview with Patrick Troughton himself, deep dives into some of the Second Doctor’s greatest adventures, and a look back at Troughton’s Children’s Film Foundation production A Hitch in Time, featuring former child actors Pheona McLellan and Michael McVey.
“It’s 60 years since Troughton was cast as the Doctor,” says editor Marcus Hearn. “William Hartnell had already made an indelible impact in the role, but the endearing ‘cosmic hobo’ that Troughton created was the version of the Doctor that gave the series practically limitless potential.
“This is the most detailed analysis of Troughton’s life and career that Doctor Who Magazine has ever published,” he continues. “It’s a revealing look at the style and techniques that made him the Doctors’ Doctor, as well as an unflinching account of an enigmatic actor with a complicated private life.”
