Step into the heart of the Whoniverse next March and join the Doctor Who Appreciation Society for A Day At Devil’s End in Aldbourne, Marlborough, Wiltshire; the filming location for the classic story The Daemons, for what the organisers hope will be one of the most exciting Doctor Who events of 2027.
Announced guests so far are actors Sylvester McCoy, The Seventh Doctor, Paul McGann, The Eighth Doctor, Daphne Ashbrook (Grace Holloway in Doctor Who: The Movie) and Cheryl Fergison, who played Mrs Lloyd in the 2005 adventure The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, known best as Heather Trott from EastEnders.
More guests will be announced soon.
The Daemons was first broadcast on the BBC in 1971, and follows the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) as he and Jo Grant (Katy Manning) hurry to the scene of an archaeological dig in the village of Devil’s End…what could possibly go wrong!?
Building on the legacy of the wonderful Who’s at the Playhouse events, the DWAS is bringing fans a brand-new celebration of all things Doctor Who in the beautiful village of Aldbourne, forever immortalised as Devil’s End in the beloved 1971 classic, the Doctor engaging in a climactic battle with both The Master and forces from beyond our world.

Held in Aldbourne Memorial Hall, just a short walk from the very places seen on screen, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Doctor Who history.
The ticket price includes entry to the event, where you will be able to meet a fantastic line-up of guests, enjoy a number of fascinating interviews and panels, and a goodie bag. You’ll also have access to purchase autographs and photographs with the guests.

Aldbourne is surrounded by rolling chalk hills and is within easy reach by car of Hungerford, Marlborough and Swindon. St. Michael’s Church, which overlooks the village green dates back to the 11th century.
Quite apart from its Doctor Who connection, the attractive village with approximately 2000 residents has excellent facilities: an outstanding primary school, two excellent pubs, a post office with delicatessen and café, a small supermarket plus other small businesses.

Children under ten years old are entitled to free admission but must be accompanied by an adult. Carers/essential companions are also entitled to free admission.

Do note electronic payments may not be possible due to mysterious forces (oh, all right, the signal’s possibly a bit limited… spoilsports). All activities are subject to change, re-locating or cancellation if necessary.
The DWAS note the residents of Aldbourne have been very helpful with the organisation of this event. Please be respectful of their village, church, graveyard and limited parking. There is free on-street parking throughout the village, but please do not park around the village green itself, as this is where many residents live, or immediately outside the Memorial Hall and Co-Op, to allow residents easy access to their village facilities.
The nearest mainline train station to Aldbourne is Swindon, approximately 10 miles away.
The Blue Boar Pub serves drinks all day and serves food until 2.00pm. Advance booking is advised if you would like to have a meal. When visiting for a photograph, please make a purchase if possible. The Crown Pub also serves food all day.

Harrop Buckley Designs New Azal Figure
A new Doctor Who Limited Edition of Azal from ‘The Dæmons’ now available to pre-order from Harrop Buckley Designs.
Azal is a Dæmon from the planet Dæmos who landed on Earth thousands of years ago. The Dæmons have been inspiring the progression of humanity, using the Earth as a giant experiment, becoming ingrained in myth and legend as the Devil.
Made at Harrop Buckley Designs Studios in Shropshire, UK, Azal was traditionally hand-sculpted by Mike Rogers and finished with a paint pattern created by Studio Painter Sasha Burrage.
A limited edition of only 200 figurines, each figurine will be packaged in a presentation box, individually numbered with a certificate of authenticity to mark its provenance.

Return to Devil’s End, Restored
Reeltime Pictures announced plans to release a special edition of its production, Doctor Who’s Return To Devil’s End in June, starring Jon Pertwee, Nicholas Courtney, Richard Franklin, John Levene, Director Christopher Barry … and the people of Aldbourne.
“Sometimes, when I’m at a convention, someone will come up to me and suggests an idea for a production,” says Reeltime Pictures producer Keith Barnfather. “A few years ago, Paul Davis [who organised the 1996 event at Aldbourne, Jon Pertwee’s last public appearance] did just that … pointing out we must have shot a lot more material for Return to Devil’s End than went into the edit. Could I possibly make them available as he’d love to see them?
“It made me think … I’d love to look through them again too! So, it started off the process of digitising all the rushes and preparing this brand new release!”
Over two volumes, Return to Devil’s End – The Cutting ROOM Floor features every bit of footage Reeltime filmed over the two days at Aldbourne. Introduced by Nick Briggs Keith, who says that it will offer “an even better glimpse into the world of Jon Pertwee’s era of Doctor Who than the original production.”
Split into two volumes, 1. Walkie Talkies and 2. The Interviews, expect four hours of material telling the story of one of the most popular Doctor Who stories ever made, the release will include all the takes and retakes, the full interviews and the press call not used in the original release.
