The guest line up for Lancaster Comics Day on Sunday 14th June 2015, a new event organised by the Friends of Lancaster Library in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, is now confirmed.

Centred on Lancaster Library events include a panel on Doctor Who comics, the official launch of  the Lost in Space digital anthology featuring the winners of a competition organised by LICAF in partnership with Titan Comics, a Breaking Into Comics panel, competitions for all ages, cosplay – and Comic Cake!

Andy Diggle

Andy Diggle is a comic book writer who previously edited 2000AD and is currently working on Thief of Thieves with Robert Kirkman at Skybound and Uncanny at Dynamite. His past credits include the hit series, The Losers, drawn by Jock, Doctor Who for IDW, Daredevil and Hawkeye for Marvel Comics and Green Arrow: Year One, the basis for the Arrow TV series, for DC Comics. His creator-owned thriller Snapshot, illustrated by Andy’s longtime friend and collaborator Jock, is out now; you can check it out digitally. You can read most of his work digitally via Comixology.

Touring rock drummer turned comic book creator Dave Taylor, is currently working on Doctor Who for Titan Comics and Judge Dredd for 2000AD. He has worked on many mainstream books with many highly respected writers including Batman with Matt Wagner, Alan Grant, Karl Kesel and Chip Kidd, Judge Dredd with John Wagner, Alan Grant, Robbie Morrison and Ian Edginton, Arzak with Jean Moebius Giraud and Prophet with Brandon Graham.

Also at the event will be acclaimed comics artist John Ridgway, whose credits include work for Commando, Doctor Who Magazine, HellblazerWarrior, Torchwood Magazine and Age of Heroes.

Eddie Robson is a comedy and science fiction writer best known for his sitcom Welcome to Our Village, Please Invade Carefully and his work on a variety of spin-offs from the BBC Television series Doctor Who, including strips for Doctor Who Adventures.

Tim Quinn

Comics writer Tim Quinn is regularly on tour with his memorable the cartoon workshop and lecture circuit. His many credits include strips for  The BeanoDoctor Who Magazine (a collection of his humour strips, drawn by Dicky Howett, It’s Even Bigger on the Inside, is out now) and The Guardian. He was editor of Marvel UK’s Spider-Man and X-Men titles, and also wrote for the classic British humour weekly TV Comic.

Comics editor and writer John Freeman, currently editor of the digital comics range at ROK Comics which includes a re-presnetation of  The Beatles Story by Angus Allan and Arthur Ranson, began his comic career at Marvel UK as designer and then editor of Doctor Who Magazine. He moved on to work on the 1992 Marvel Genesis range with creators such as Liam Sharp, Gary Erskine, Stuart Jennett and Simon Coleby. As Managing Editor for Titan Magazines he edited Star Trek Magazine, Star Wars Magazine and Babylon 5 Magazine, among other titles, including the British Simpsons Comics. His recent credits include writer and editor for ROK Comics and writer and editor of STRIP Magazine. You can read his strip Crucible, co-created with 2000AD artist Smuzz on Tapastic.

Tickets (on sale soon from Lancaster Library) will be £5, £2 concessions (unwaged, students), kids under 13 go free if accompanied by an adult. Ticket includes admission to two panels, one on Doctor Who comics and the other on “Breaking Into Comics”.
