Accent UK Brings Trolls And Gunslingers To The Glasgow Comic Con

The Troll Cover
Accent UK will have their two latest titles The Troll and WesterNoir Book 5 at the Glasgow Comic Con this coming weekend.

The Troll is by Danish artist and storyteller, Martin Flink, the author of Accent UK’s Man Of Glass. The silent, all-ages, colour comic is co-written by Martin’s young son Malthe, who inspired the story following an explanation of his walk through the Danish forest. Readers can share Malthe’s journey and decide for themselves whether it is a true story or simply a product of a child’s colourful imagination.

Accent UK co-publisher Colin Mathieson tells us, “We’ve known Martin for many years since exhibiting at the first Copenhagen comics festival in 2004 (then known as Komiks.dk). Martin was one of the festival’s co-founders and had designed the show’s poster and logos. Renewing our acquaintance at each subsequent bi-annual festival, we kept an eye on his developing talent and were delighted when he agreed for Accent UK to publish his first major work, The Man of Glass in 2010 which was very well received. Since then Martin contributed to our Predators anthology as we explored other projects alongside Martin’s busy freelance schedule and involvement with Comic Art Schools in both Denmark and Sweden.

“This relationship lead us to approaching Martin for a short ‘all-ages’ comic, something that we realised that the Accent UK range lacked as comic festivals become more family oriented and The Troll is the result.”

Advance copies of The Troll were successfully launched at the Copenhagen Comics Festival in June and will be available in Glasgow with limited original sketches from Martin. The Troll will then be available to order worldwide from Diamond Comic Distributors in the August edition of Previews for October shipping, when copies will also be available to order direct from Accent UK’s website and subsequent convention appearances.

WesterNoir 5 Cover
Also on the Accent UK sales table at Glasgow Comic Con will be Book 5 of writer Dave West and artist Gary Crutchley’s tales of Josiah Black’s demon hunting in the Old West, WesterNoir.

WesterNoir 5 Interior
Entitled “The Covenant Of Sebastian Caligary”, WesterNoir writer Dave West tells us, “In this issue we learn much more than we really want to know about Caligary and gain some insight into why he is doing what he is doing. We also learn that there is much more to the man than we thought and that Caligary has abilities of his own. Although his methods are more subtle he is every bit the lethal killer equal to Josiah Black’s gunfighter. But what of Josiah Black…”

There is more information on Accent UK’s titles on their website and blog.

Accent UK will be at the Glasgow Comic Con this coming weekend, 4/5 July 2015, where they will be selling their publications in The Art School Level 1.
