The team behind the upcoming SciFest Yorkshire 2015 are preparing the People’s Show of Sci-Fi Collectables at Tolson Memorial Museum this autumn, which will feature a range of Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars artefacts (among others).

They put out an appeal for items back in August, looking for a variety of items including Darth Vader’s mask, sonic screwdrivers and lightsabers; model vehicles like the U.S.S. Enterprise or the Back to the Future DeLorean time machine; or figures of characters from Captain Kirk to Luke Skywalker and the Daleks.

The exhibition will run from October half term until early 2016 to coincide with SciFest Yorkshire, a brand new science fiction festival, organised by Kirklees Libraries, Kirklees Museums and Galleries, and the University of Huddersfield, being held between 23rd October – 1st November 2015, across various venues in Kirklees.

“The festival has something to offer everyone – from little Whovians looking for half-term entertainment to the seasoned H.G. Wells fan after an enjoyable evening of discussion,” say organisers.

“As well as author talks and book discussions, we have a host of exciting activities. For the ‘hands on’ fan we have sci-fi themed workshops, for the film enthusiast we have various screenings of sci-fi classics, and for the Cosplayers and costumers amongst us we have a costume trail around the People’s Show of Sci-Fi based at the Tolson Memorial Museum.

Whatever your age, whatever your fandom, the team are hoping both local fans and those from elsewhere will come along and get involved.
