NBM Publishing’s upcoming releases of its new graphic novels include The Lighthouse by Paco Roca, one of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival‘s guests in October.
Paco Roca is a Spanish artist best known for his graphic novel Wrinkles (reviewed here on downthetubes, published last year in the UK by Knockabout), which was adapted into an Oscar-nominated animated film in Spain. The story of The Lighthouse is set during the Spanish Civil War, when wounded Republican guard veteran Francisco is trying to flee to freedom by escaping to France.
On his journey, he comes across an old remote lighthouse, where the ageing lighthouse operator Telmo grants him shelter. While Francisco recuperates, Telmo regales him with tales of his past adventures.
The Lighthouse will be published as a 6″ x 9″, 64-page hardcover and is planned for February 2017 release.
Founded in 1976 by publisher Terry Nantier, NBM Publishing has some 200 books in its catalogue, and has published some 500 titles down the years. Also announced for forthcoming publication were Equinoxes by Cyril Pedrosa, a biography of pianist Glenn Gould, as well as paperback collections of Dungeon: Twilight and Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde.
