Cardiff Independent Comic Expo headlines with artist John Higgins, again promotes indie comic creators

Cardiff Independent Comic Expo - DragonCardiff’s independent comic show – the Cardiff Independent Comic Expo (CICE) – returns this weekend, on Saturday 25th June, 2016 at Cardiff Masonic Hall.

The event will showcase the very best in independent comic artists, writers, publishers, retailers, illustrators, craftspeople and more, from South Wales and beyond.

The event returned in 2015 after a brief break in 2014, and continued to build on the successful shows held since 2011, to celebrate the talent of those creators at the heart of the indie scene.

Comics legend John Higgins (Watchmen, Jacked, Killing Joke, Razorjack), joins the event as Guest of Honour, alongside creators that include artists Jon Davis-Hunt (Vertigo, 2000AD), Mike Collins (Doctor Who, Marvel, 2000AD), David Roach (DC, 2000AD), Sally-Jane Hurst (Razorjack), Dylan Teague (2000AD), Patrick Goddard (2000AD), Simon Williams (Marvel), and writer Al Ewing (Marvel, Titan Comics, 2000AD).

They’re joined by superbly talented indie creators including Godmachine, Bearded Skull Comics, Gavin Mitchell, Stiffs, Andy Bloor, Real Tidy Designs, Sarah Millman, Vince Hunt, and many more.

“The independent creators are the very soul of our shows,” says Mike Allwood, creator of CICE and comic show producer for 25 plus years, who is delighted to return with CICE 2016. “Every year, they raise the bar on the books they produce and to this day continue to push the medium to new levels.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity once again to showcase the rich pool of talent we have in the UK with our small press creators.”

• Tickets for the Expo are available in advance online until Saturday 18th June from our official website priced at £4.50 (children under 12 go free with a ticket holding adult). On the door tickets will be £5
