First Isle of Wight Comic Con announced for November 2017

The first Isle of Wight Comic Con will take place at Northwood House & Park, Cowes on 4th & 5th November 2017. Comics guests announced so far include Lee TownsendDez Skinn and Colin MacNeil, along with a number of independent comic creators and publishers.

A modern day comic con is a celebration of pop culture. Traditionally focused on comic books, some have grown to include elements of films, TV, gaming and general entertainment. In the past 20 years and more so in recent years, a larger aspect of these events has been focused on cosplay with a large percentage of ticket-holders costuming as a character from the ‘world’ of their liking.

The Isle of Wight Comic Con organisers say their event will take all these elements, mash them up and give fans as much as possible – within the capacity and venue limits.

The Isle of Wight Comic Con was proposed in the Summer 2016 as Island Con, but due to a lack of viable venue the event never saw the light of day. Skip forward one year and a big push was made to find a suitable venue in good time for this inaugural Isle of Wight Comic Con – and the event settled on Northwood House which is an amazing venue for many reasons.

Northwood House is in Cowes which is just a few minutes away from the Red Jet passenger terminal. The venue also makes for beautiful photographs so remember to cosplay to the max!
