Accident Man? Buy the movie, but don’t forget the comic!

Next month sees the DVD, Blu-ray, and digital release of comic book movie, Accident Man in the US (the UK date hasn’t been announced) – based on the comic crated and written by 2000AD creator Pat Mills and Tony Skinner, with artists Martin Emond, John Erasmus and Duke Mighten, so it seems an opportune moment to remind you of Titan The Complete Accident Man collection, released back in 2014.

Accident Man from Sony Pictures, stars Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange) as Mike Fallon – a hitman who specialises in making his victims’ deaths look like accidents. The comic book movie also stars Ray Park (Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace), Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga), Ray Stevenson (Thor: Ragnarok) and David Paymer (Payback).

As sexy as James Bond, as lethal and discrete as an air bubble to the heart, Mike Fallon is a genius at the art of making assassination look like an unfortunate accident.

The Complete Accident Man from Titan Comics collects four tales of sex, revenge and violence, written by Pat Mills together with Tony Skinner, a strip that first appeared in TOXIC (no, not the current incarnation).

You may recall our very own Tony Esmond enthused about Accident Man a while back. “Never failing to grasp a curled lip and two fingers raised at the establishment, this is as alternative as you could ever have gotten in a UK newsagents weekly,” he wrote.

“The opening few issues under the art chores of the sadly now passed Martin Edmond feel like the nastiest of all the series. It feels like you are reading an Underground Comic. Something that you would most definitely have to hide from your mum and dad. Dirty, bloody and extreme, this is the genesis of the hero. He would later go in to a more sleeker and smarter look under the pen of Duke Mighten and John Erasmus, but it’s Edmond, for me, who really gets the idea and runs with it. He chocks the page full of jokes and sound effects. His exaggerated punk edged violence fits the story brilliantly.

• The Accident Man movie is released on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital on 6th February 2018 in the United States
