MCM London Comic Con Sees Record Attendance

The MCM London Comic Con may already be Europe’s biggest comic con, but the show will be even bigger when it returns to ExCel London this October, organisers have revealed.

“MCM London Comic Con will be soaring from 25,000 m2 to 34,000 m2, spreading the event across both sides of ExCel for the first time,” said MCM joint managing director Bryan Cooney.

“Growing the show’s footprint will not only allow us to provide additional exhibitor space, but will also enable us to expand our Main Theatre so even more visitors get to enjoy the latest movies from the UK’s biggest distributors, as well as cast and crew presentations.”

The news comes after last month’s MCM London Comic Con set a new attendance record with over 76,000 movie, videogame, sci-fi, anime, cosplay and comics fans attending over the long weekend, which featured five indoor stages including a 1,000 seat Main Theatre, as well as an outdoor Fringe Festival stage.

“MCM London Comic Con just keeps getting bigger and better,” said Paul Miley, MCM’s joint managing director. “Recent shows have not only seen us host more great films, games, sci-fi shows and comic artists, but also launch exciting new zones such as VidFestUK, dedicated to online video; MCM eSports tournaments and JapanEx, giving visitors a taste of Asian culture; there really is something for everyone!”
