Beyond Words Festival returns to London

The Beyond Words Festival returns to Institut français, London next month, offering a lineup that includes Swiss novelist, film, TV and comics writer Joseph Incardona.

Beyond Words Festival 2026

From 8th – 22nd June, the French Institute in London invites you to discover the 9th edition of Beyond Words Festival of Literature — a vibrant programme of literary talks, screenings, readings, and conversations with acclaimed authors and exciting new voices from across the world.

From Beirut to Italy, and from Balzac to Camus, the festival explores stories that move between the intimate and the political, bringing literature to life both on the page and on screen.

The Festival includes screenings of Arco, produced by Natalie Portman and winner of the Cristal Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and the BAFTA Award-nominated Little Amélie, from Amélie Nothomb’s bestselling autobiography The Character of the Rain. Little Amélie transports us to Japan seen through the eyes of a thriving little girl decided to discover the world in her own terms.

Featuring authors including Sorj Chalandon, Camille de Peretti, Olivier Norek, Fergal Keane, Joseph Incardona, Nastassja Martin, Valentin Deudon, and many more.

Attending to promote his new novel, Holy F*ck, Swiss author Joseph Incardona has written more than fifteen novels across a range of genres. He is also a writer of comics, film, and television, as well as a playwright and director. His work is both popular and critically acclaimed; it has won numerous awards and has been adapted for film.

Incardona’s work has been translated into German, Italian, Korean, and Georgian, but Holy F*ck, published by Bitter Lemon Press, a darkly comic novel set in the American South, is his first book to be available in English. Flirting between a thriller and a satire, the novel takes aim at religious authority and moral hypocrisy.
