Britain’s second city set to go comics crazy in June as Birmingham Comics Festival returns for third year

The Birmingham Comics Festival will be celebrating its third consecutive year of activity across the second city this June, with a weekend-long convention the culmination of a month of planned events.

A city-wide series of comics-related events, large and small, will again take place from fun days out for kids to academic lectures, exhibitions and film shows alongside its popular convention that is moving to a new city-centre based state-of-the-art venue.

The festival will begin on 1st June 2017 when it is launched at Birmingham City University with the return of the Birmingham Comic Art Show, as an exhibition of original and rare comic book art that will be available for public viewing all month long.

Throughout June those in the city can look forward to events taking place at popular local venues and tourist spots including the MAC Birmingham, The Mockingbird Cinema & Kitchen, The Victoria Theatre Pub, Nostalgia & Comics, Waterstones Bookshop, the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park and the aforementioned Birmingham City University where its convention will take place this year.

The Birmingham Comics Festival’s convention will be held over the weekend of 24-25th June and feature exhibitors, publishers, and guest creators plus an assortment of new activities – all of which will be announced over the coming weeks.

Over the last three years. the Birmingham Comics Festival has proved to be a series of events all the family can enjoy, attracting fans of the medium from around the UK and abroad and helping promote the second city as one of the fastest growing major tourist destinations to visit in the UK.
