Cover artist Dave Alexander drew his own comics from a young age, but his first published comics work he was actually paid for was in 1982, for two front covers for DC Thomson’s “Starblazer” series, #100 and #104.

He was co-founder of adult humour comic “Electric Soup” in 1989, when his anarchic characters “The Mad Mentol MacBam Brothers” made their first appearance. In 1999 along with Jim Stewart, Jamie Grant and Paddy “Pudsy” Morris he published the marijuana themed comic “Northern Lightz”, which ran for eleven issues.

With writing partner Brian “Biscuit Tin” Bishop he had several full page strips published in VIZ comic. He has also produced cover artwork for DC Thomson’s Commando. In 2008, he began working on Jim Stewart’s Ganjaman Presents comic.

Sadly, Juan Manuel Cicuéndez (aka Cic) passed away suddenly on 7th September 2013. In an online tribute on his official web site, archived on Wayback Machine, his family described him as having “a life dedicated to his passion, which was drawing and that leaves an important legacy for all those who know how to appreciate and value his extensive work. What for your family is a great loss personally, it is also for the world of Comics and Illustration.”
