Christmas issue of ‘Funny Monsters Comic’ on sale now

Funny Monsters Issue 2

The second issue of Funny Monsters Comic, an independently-published humour comic from cartoonist Joe Matthews (which he tells us should have limited distribution through Menzies for its third outing next year) is on sale now – and it’s a Christmas cracker!

Fed up with the lack of new British humour comics being published by the major publishers, Joe’s decided to publish his own, and I was delighted to catch up with him during the Lakes International Comic Art Festival last month, where he kindly gave me a copy of the first fun-packed issue. It was a real treat to read and I immediately plugged it on Twitter.

The new 16-page Christmas-themed issue comes with free stickers and trading cards as an enticing gift, strips that include “Zackster – Kid Zombie”, “The Bed Bugs” and “Werewolf Growl” as well as a text story, “Milly, Monster Hunter”, and some great activity pages.

Funny Monsters Comic only has limited distribution but it’s great to hear that will hopefully change in 2015, when it will be on sale in Co-Op stores. Meanwhile, you can send for a copy by post simply by using PayPal ( £2 including p&p – or £3 for issues 1 & 2).

This is a great project launched on a shoestring that deserves support. Give it a try – it would make a fab stocking filler for kids for the upcoming festive season.
