Carlos is best known for drawing Judge Dredd, for British sci-fi anthology comic 2000AD. Two Judge Dredd motion pictures have been made (Judge Dredd, 1995 and Dredd, 2012), and a TV series is in development at the time of writing. Carlos started his career based in Barcelona, drawing westerns and war stories for Spanish publishers. In 1973, he began a long and successful career in the UK, drawing for girls’ romance titles, westerns, and a variety of adventure strips.
He then drew “The Rat Pack” for Battle Picture Weekly, before creating future lawman Judge Dredd, with writer John Wagner. Carlos also created “El Mestizo” for Battle (with writer Alan Hebden), and Strontium Dog, for Starlord (with writer John Wagner). Starlord was later merged into 2000AD and Strontium Dog continues to this day.
In addition to his 2000AD work, Carlos has also collaborated with Garth Ennis on Bloody Mary, Adventures in the Rifle Brigade, War Stories, a Hitman annual with artist Steve Pugh, and two Preacher specials (The Good Old Boys and The Saint of Killersminiseries) for DC Comics, and Just a Pilgrim for Black Bull Entertainment.
An epic collection of stunning creations, the Carlos Ezquerra’s 2000AD & Judge Dredd Colouring Book lets you unleash your creativity, relax, and lose yourself in the sci-fi world of Carlos Ezquerra!
